I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, one of the best times to go to NYC is during the shoulder season (between peak and off-peak) after the summer and before all of the major winter holiday. New York City in the fall? Come on!!!
Here’s an example:
$236 – Burbank to New York’s JFK with JetBlue round trip
Got points and don’t want to shell out cash?
If you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve, you can fly for as low as 15K points round trip, that’s insane! Nothing else out of pocket, so you can put your points to use. Why is this a good deal? A typical sweet spot to NYC will set you back 25K points, but this deal gets your there for less, 15K points. If you have points with your Chase Sapphire Preferred, it could be as low as 19K Ultimate Rewards.
There are lots of dates flying from Burbank.
Here’s how I would check:
- Go to google.com/flights
- Enter BUR and JFK for the airports (you can try your local airports as well, I’ve seen a few deals for LAX and SFO)
- Follow the prompts, buy directly from the airline; OR
- If you have access to points with Chase, search by going to your Chase Ultimate Rewards account.
- Lots of availability through early November
To learn more how to get started using points, here are two entries that I wrote recently:
