Here’s the original post
There are cards that make you think, and there are cards that I believe are just no brainers. And when these Hilton card offers came out, my head started to spin. Why? These cards come with the following:
- Bonus points; and
- FREE night reward
But first, check out the picture above? That’s the Waldorf Astoria Grand Wailea on the island of Maui. We used our free night award certificates and we were upgraded to an Ocean View King Room with sofa sleeper, rollaway bed at this Hawaiian behemoth called Grand Wailea. The value was $1770 per night – $4,155 for 2 nights including fees. That’s the power of these free night rewards.
What’s a Free Night Reward
The Free Night Reward can be redeemed any night of the week for a one night standard accommodation, double occupancy, subject to availability at properties in the Hilton portfolio, excluding those listed at HiltonHonors.com/freenightreward. To redeem the Free Night Reward, you must call 1-800-446-6677. Free Night Rewards issued on or after 2/3/2022 will expire 12 months from date of issuance. The Free Night Reward will be forfeited if not redeemed for a stay on or before the expiration date.

What I love about this offer is that business cards from American Express do not count toward your 5/24 count.

Things to remember
- American Express has a once-in-a-lifetime rule. For instance, I already have the no annual fee Hilton Honors card (I still have it till today), and I will not be eligible for the bonus offer on that card.
- Since I already have the no annual fee card, I can still apply for the Surpass and the Business version and I should be eligible to get promotional free night reward plus the bonus points on both. That’s
- Remember the Amex 5 card rule. According to Bankrate “American Express limits all customers to five personal and business credit cards at a time. The five-card rule does not apply to charge cards, which provides some flexibility if you need more than five Amex cards. Charge cards include the Amex Platinum, American Express® Gold Card and American Express® Green Card.”
Takeaways
We are in the middle of meeting a huge minimum spend on my wife’s American Express Gold Card, and trust me, once I cross the line where I know we’d be close meeting the spend on that card, I’ll be in line to sign up for these Amex cards.
