I always get asked “should I wait for a better offer on the Chase Sapphire Preferred? I figured it would be best to review the offers through the years.

History of Chase Sapphire Preferred Bonus Offers through the years

I remember reading an old article from The Points Guy that showed the history of the offers:

2017 – March 2019 – 50,000
March 2019 – Sept 2020 – 60,000
Sept 2020 – Nov 2020 – 80,000
Nov 2020 – March 2021 – 60,000
March 2021 – June 2021 – 80,000 (this was the period when I applied)
June 2021 – Oct 2021 – 100,000 (insert Jason went to therapy hahahahaha NOT)
Oct 2021 – April 2022 – 60,000
April 2022 – May 2022 – 80,000
June 2022 – March 2023 – 60,000
March 2023 (in-branch) – 80,000 after $4K spend, earn 10K, after spending $6K total in 6 months
April 2023 – present – 80,000 (ending soon)

While I am not a Chase insider, the 100K offer was probably a way for Chase to increase demand for the card during a time when travel was so uncertain (during the heart of the pandemic).

Trust me I was a victim of the missed 100,000 offer

Yes, it happened to me. I applied for the Chase Sapphire Preferred with the 80,000 bonus, and just a few weeks later, Chase increased its offer to 100,000. But that’s the nature of this game….it’s still a win no matter how I look at it. I used Nancy’s referral link, earned the 80K, and I moved on. That’s all I could do.

So, will another 100K bonus offer come around?

I don’t know which offer/s will come out next. We do not have an inkling if another increased offer will come around the corner.
